Exploring the “Further Shores”
Through story, books and music, I explore the mysteries of consciousness, connection and the unexpected moments that challenge what we think we know about ourselves and the world.
“I am drawn to the moments we often overlook: intuition, coincidence, and the subtle threads that seem to connect events, people, and inner states. I do not see them as marginal phenomena, but as glimpses of something deeper and more fundamental. Something that, in a Parmenidean sense, points toward the One.”

Books
A true account of the “impossible,” a metaphysical musical, and a study of how the laws that govern a story also govern a life

Bava’s Gift
Awakening to the Impossible
Bava’s Gift is a true story that chronicles extraordinary events following the sudden death of a close friend. These events became a catalyst for my own transformation. The book invites readers to awaken to a more expanded view of reality, and how we are all vitally connected, even to loved ones who have passed.

The Further Shores of Knowing
A metaphysical musical fantasy
When the Polestar suddenly goes dark, humanity loses its guiding light. The hero — the son of a sea nymph and student of an ancient Pythagorean tradition — sets out across the Pacific with his best friend, a Whale, to reignite the star. He confronts demonic forces, shipwrecked survivors, and a love that forces him to choose between his own happiness and bringing light back into the world.
Written with Jack Engstrom, this is the complete script of the musical. It includes commentary by the authors along with Randolph Dible, Foster Gamble and Louis H Kauffman.

The Eyes of Lynceus
Seeing deeply into life and dramatic construction
This book is predicated on the idea that the same principles that pertain to creating a compelling character and story can be applied to improving one’s own life — and, as a result, bring new levels of peace, creativity, agency and awareness. To achieve this, we take as our guide the work of logician G. Spencer-Brown and his celebrated treatise, Laws of Form.
What writers, directors and other professionals say
“Beyond having great facility as a writer, Michael is able to take complex ideas and make them compelling and understandable. Publishing Bava’s Gift was an easy decision. When I read it, I was taken with its freshness and unique contribution to consciousness studies, and his view of the growing alignment of science and spirituality.”
Brenda Dunne
Founder of ICRL Press with Robert Jahn. Manager of the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research program at Princeton University.
“At a key stage in the development of my film, The 11th Green, Michael became a valuable collaborator and script consultant. He helped open narrative doors and explore dramatic possibilities that I had not previously seen. His contribution went beyond that of a good editor, and inspired the structural and thematic maturation of the material into something ready to be filmed.”
Christopher Münch
Two-time Independent Spirit Award winner and Guggenheim fellow. Director of The 11th Green, which The New Yorker called “one of the best movies of 2020.”
“As a theater director and choreographer, I look for original stories that both entertain and excite one’s imagination. Achieving that vision requires superb writing skills, openness and empathy. Michael has these qualities in abundance. When I read the script for The Further Shores of Knowing I was impressed by the timeliness of the story and its allegorical basis.”
Andrea Andresakis
Director, choreographer and movement coach for musicals, plays, opera and dance.
“My company has retained Michael on many writing projects and I’m always impressed by his conceptual thinking and his ability to turn dry insights into something compelling and memorable. His words are fresh, inventive, and strategically on target. Michael is proof that thoughtful, human-authored words can still make a real difference.”
